Washington, DC Service Unit
The goal of MCC East Coast's Washington DC Program is to build closer connections, in the Capital and surrounding area, with Anabaptist churches and with other organizations pursuing objectives similar to MCC. These connections are developed through Service Worker assignments, the allocation of speakers, material aid or resources and networking. A group of local church members helps to shape the program's vision and gives a source of accountability to the organization. In addition to churches in the District, Anabaptist communities are spread across cities and suburban areas of Northern Virginia and Maryland. They are organized in sixteen established churches and numerous emerging groups representing a broad diversity of population and conferences. Service Workers from the DC Program live in together in the Trinidad neighborhood of Northeast Washington and are currently serving with a partner organization in Northern Virginia as well as at the MCC US Washington Office, in advocacy work.
